Liverpool actor, broadcaster and environmentalist Simon O’Brien has accepted an offer from Joe Anderson to chair a Green Space Review Panel from January 2015. Simon has been active in the Save Woolton Woods campaign since development was announced as part of rebuilding St Julie’s school.

The Panel will  consider the city’s greenspaces, including Sefton Park Meadows, and feed into the drafting of the new Liverpool Local Plan for 2017. The terms of reference for the Panel have not been made public, nor have the members of the group. SSPM will consider its response to this Panel and whether to work with them when we are clear what its powers and responsibilities are.

Any development planning applications, such as Redrow for the Meadows, will not be delayed or stopped because of this Review.  Woolton Woods development is excluded from the Panel review. We shall see…..
